We ask Jam Music users to follow these community guidelines to promote a positive experience for all. We want to have fun Jamming together in an authentic way and in a safe environment. The following general guidelines help you understand what we expect from Jam Music users.
Make others feel welcome.
At Jam Music we believe that listening to music together can a be a powerful and fun way for people to connect with one another. This can mean staying close to old friends or meeting new ones.
Our goal is to support and empower our users to create an environment on Jam Music that feels inclusive and welcoming. If you are an experienced user and see someone new, take the time to explain how Jam Music works, and be a friendly guide.
Respect one another.
Respect is the foundation of our community. We want to make sure that everyone can have a great experience on Jam Music. It’s not OK to criticize other people or put them down.
Remember: posting threatening, bullying or harassing chats and answers is ALWAYS unacceptable on Jam Music. Swearing isn’t necessarily disallowed, but be mindful you are often Jamming with people you do not know and you need to make sure you are showing respect. Always respect.
It can be really easy to miscommunicate online and accidentally offend people — watch out for sarcasm with people you do not know because it can sometimes cause conflict.
Be the Real YOU.
There is no need to pretend to be someone else on Jam Music. In fact, it’s NOT allowed. You can use a fun profile photo or come up with a silly name, but creating a fake profile and posing as someone else that is real is not COOL.
Using Jam Music if you’re under 13 is a not allowed. The age requirement is there for your own protection.
Do not game the system.
‘Collecting Notes’ is considered rude. The music is meant to be enjoyed, so just Like the music you really like! If you are just Liking songs to earn and horde Notes, and not because these are songs you want to hear and promote, then you are not being a positive member of the community. Please relax, enjoy the music and the Notes will come.
Look after YOUR well-being.
While we have put various safety tools in place, you too can do a lot to be in charge of your Jam Music experience: use settings and report any users that bother you. You can always send us an email to email@example.com or text at 1-415-683-6826. We love to hear from you! For your own safety, never give your telephone number to someone else on Jam Music.
Promoting and encouraging suicide, self injury and eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia is unacceptable. If you are feeling desperate there is a text line you can try. Just text HOME to 741741. Use it if you need it – this is really important.
